Directory Services

The Purdue Operators offer directory assistance for listings of students, staff and departments on campus. Dial "0" from a campus phone or 494-4600 from off campus to reach Purdue Directory assistance.

  • Staff needing to change an individual listing should complete a form 13 and submit it to the Information Processing Clerk, Personnel Services FREH. The operators receive biweekly update of staff listings from Personnel Services.

  • Students needing to change an individual listing should use SSINFO or contact the Registrar’s office. The operators receive weekly updates of student listings from the Registrar.

  • For changes to Departmental Listings, contact the Operator Services Supervisor at 49-43050. The operators use a special database for departmental listings that can be updated at any time.

Published Directories

Operator Services is in charge of compiling the information included in the departmental sections of the Purdue Student/Staff directory that is published each October. A letter is sent in May to each department asking for corrections and updates to the information published in the previous directory.

In July, a letter is sent to each department seeking corrections for the Purdue University pages of the Verizon telephone directory, which is distributed in December.

Long Distance calling from Off Campus, Local Calling Area using an Authorization Code

Staff members with authorization codes can call the Purdue Operator at 49-44600 to place a long distance call from an off campus local number. Calls using the authorization code can be placed through the Purdue Operator only from the local calling area. If official university business calls need to be placed from outside the local calling area, a Purdue University calling card should be used.

SUVON

The State Universities Voice Network (SUVON) links the telephone systems of 75 college or university campuses and learning centers throughout Indiana . It is available around the clock to campus faculty and staff for educational and business telephoning. SUVON may not be used for personal calls.

To place a call on SUVON from the Purdue campus, dial our SUVON access code (8 )+ 1+ area code + seven digit telephone number. If the call is available on the network, the call will go through. If the location is not available, the caller receives a recorded message stating that the number cannot be completed on the SUVON network.

For more information or to report problems with SUVON, call the Operator Services Supervisor at 49-43050.
